A Content Management System (CMS) is a model of Web-based publishing system that allows authors and editors to store content (text and other media) via a structured user interface. They can then organise and publish their work to a website and other digital channels. A CMS can help teams collaborate on content creation by assigning different levels of access to its users, facilitating the addition of extensions or plugins to its default toolset, and the installation of  template-based layout designs known as “themes”. Wordpress and Drupal are CMSs.
