Event organisation, stewarding and security

I joined Buddhafield‘s Steward Crew in 2000, ending up as its Area Coordinator (aka Chief Steward, and simultaneously Festival Director) in 2008. As part of a shift of venue and licensing authority (Mid Devon to Taunton Deane), I got an SIA Doors Supervisor’s licence; in 2009 I had the possibly unique opportunity to be a mounted bouncer!

Between 2011–2021 I covered several of Buddhafield’s management positions, including its compliance, and sauna / spa areas, where my brief was to take each on, and hand it on to the next long-term manager. I’ve also supported their Art Decor, Crew Food, and Buddhafield Café, as junior coordinator to fill gaps.

I went back to Buddhafield’s Steward Crew in 2021, after it’s then coordinator had to pull out, last minute, with ill health; I co-coordinated with professional festival stewarding and traffic control service provider Force of Nature Events, and have recently worked for them as a Buddhafield Steward Crew manager, Secret Garden Party Steward Supervisor, on Boomtown Fair‘s Internal Traffic Event Control desk, and organising End of the Road‘s boutique camping car park.

Cooking

I have worked for the Preceptor’s College of the Triratna Buddhist Order; in the Buddhafield Café at multiple festivals, but specifically Glastonbury Festival; Seed of Peace on a series of weekend workshops; with the Coexist Community Kitchen in Bristol; and the annual, Christmas Ashburton Makers market.
